In the middle of the 17th century, a post office of the Thurn and Taxis was built in the village of Riem, at that time far from the gates of the capital of Munich. Here horses were changed and shops made, here travelers found recreation. Riem has long since become a popular district of Munich, only 15 minutes by car or suburban train from the city center.
