About

Ideally situated next to King’s Cross St Pancras Station providing transport links across London and further afield, the British Library is an ideal location for any event. With tailored spaces accommodating from 10 to 200 people, we suit any event from meetings to formal dinners as well as conferences and receptions. Our on-site caterers provide a variety of delicious menus to suit your event, using the freshest seasonal produce.

Knowledge Centre  

The British Library’s modern and refurbished Knowledge Centre consists of a state-of-the-art theatre with a seating capacity of up to 255 and four break-out rooms, all located around a central foyer with a private bar. The space is ideal for conferences, presentations, ceremonies and lectures and our on-site AV team provide and support all of your AV requirements.

Executive Boardroom Suite 

Our Boardroom Suite contains our British Library Boardroom for up to 32 people as well as smaller meeting rooms.  Our Boardroom offers formal dining for between 10 and 32 people. Lined with portraits and paintings from our collection, it offers a touch of luxury with a foyer space suitable for drinks on arrival.

King’s Library Gallery

The King’s Library Gallery is a space for adding a little wow factor to your dinners. Situated beside a six-storey bronze and glass tower at the heart of the British Library, it is home to the private collection of King George III. Providing the perfect backdrop for events within the Library, it can host up to 80 people for dinner and 150 for a reception. Available in the evenings only.

Terrace Restaurant

Our Terrace Restaurant is a light and open space with floor-to-ceiling windows and a large outdoor area. Inside offers a stunning space for dinners, award ceremonies and receptions for up to 200 people and the Outdoor Terrace provides a unique location in central London for summer  events. Available in the evenings only.

The Upper Gallery

The Upper Gallery at the centre of the library is a wide open space, which serves as one of the main public floors during the day. This space can be transformed for exclusive private hire in the evenings for up to 300 for a reception or 180 for a dinner, making it the largest available space to hire at the Library.
