At Parkhotel Schönbrunn you can get closer to Imperial Vienna on a very personal level. Because it is located in the carefully restored premises of the former guest house of Emperor Franz Joseph. This goes back to a snack station that was opened in 1787. It was then taken over by Ferdinand Dommayer in 1823 and converted into an inn. In the following decades, lavish ball nights were celebrated there and the house became the epitome of Vienna. Several works by Johann Strauss father and son and their contemporary Joseph Lanner were premiered here. From 1907 to 1908, the Parkhotel Schönbrunn was built at this very location according to the plans of the architect Arnold Heymann. In addition to 70 guest rooms and dining rooms, it already had a ballroom and a Viennese coffee house.
